Hats off to all the heads who talked about progrssively compressing only a little bit in each channel in the chain. My mixes are waaay louder now without losing any dynamics. So much headroom but also perceived loudness. I SHOULD'VE LISTENED SOONER. Though I like the headroom way more than the loudness now haha.

It also made me focus way more on the details of my mix, get rid of as much junk in each individual channel as I could. I felt like I already did, but I went in overdrive today :0 Tho', I know I should've done that either way

Why do you want an alternative?

What's a good price for an SP-303?

Post by wub » Thu Aug 01, 2013 12:47 pm

Got one I'm keeping an eye on and want to make sure I don't pay over the odds for it by mistake.

I'd say <=200USD is a decent price. I've been wanting one for a while, just for the lo fi awesomeness. Will probably end up sequencing it with Maschine if I get one.

:Q:

One I'm looking at is considerably lower than that at present, so we'll see what happens :)

When I just looked I saw a couple go for 100USD.

Also, everyone here should check out the Strymon El Capistan DSP tape echo pedal. Personally I think it's a steal at 300 new. This is the only guitar pedal I've seen...excepting maybe the Eventide Space...I'd call a sound design tool.

As someone on another forum put it, we can put all the "how to Boards of Canada" threads to bed...the answer is the El Capistan...

put seriously it's probably the closest thing I've ever heard to real tape echo w/o tape...

SP303 is up to 25% of what I consider to be my 'maximum' bid. Hoping it won't shoot up over the weekend too much :?
