I remember reading somewhere that JS Bach had an insane love of caffeine. Drugs and music go well back. Maybe it was the common thing back then to wander over to the woods when feeling uninspired and getting hold of the old psychoactive fungi?

It comes from you but not really consciously is the point. Surely when you are making tunes no matter how systematic you try to be there will still be a sort of "oh that's suddenly sick" moment which is almost like an accident and it happened unintentionally no? Same thing really. Same playing a more traditional instrument and especially exaggerated during improvisation where it's almost like an experience outside of your own conscious control of your body. I mean to master any physical process is the point where you do it without thinking
