Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
So you push the coil mic against things to record like a stethoscope, yeah?
Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
Think people like the weird ones more than just another 100 FUCKING DRUM SAMPLES THAT'LL CUT THROUGH ANY MIX. Yours are great for like anything from little 'fills' or risers to atmospherics or even basses.Mad EP wrote:Well done peeps =
Less than a week and over 100 downloads. Not bad for a seriously weird sample pack.![]()
Glad you lot are having fun with em.

You don't have to exactly push against it.. it'll pick up just getting near, in fact - that is the fun part about recording it live.. taking passes at the object, getting nearer and further away create different sounds and volumes.

Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
Genevieve hit the nail on the head, exactly why I was stoked for this. I've got a bazillion drum samples that cut through the mix because I have at least a small clue as to what I'm doing...lol

It's crazy, we are hearing data transmission for each device.
The higher pitched tones like the cell phone and router are transferring data at a higher frequency so it produces a higher pitch while the light bulb and fan have a lower tone to them, Probably around 60hz id presume because of the voltage coming from AC, 50hz if your from the UK... Real cool mate.

Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
so the zoom recorder, is it just the magic of the recording or the noises it makes? cause i planned to get atleast one cheap - middle class recorder, but many reviews i read about nearly all cheaper zooms where about the bad noise floor

Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
Avoid Zoom recorders if you can afford better ones. I have H2 since 4-5years it's have very noisy preamp. If you want to record very quiet things the result will be noisy. I mostly make bootlegs with this. It's not a big problem on loud rock/metal concerts-BudSpencertron wrote:so the zoom recorder, is it just the magic of the recording or the noises it makes? cause i planned to get atleast one cheap - middle class recorder, but many reviews i read about nearly all cheaper zooms where about the bad noise floor

thanks man def try to find sth dif than a cheap zoom than
Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
The noises you are hearing on the recording are the sounds being picked up by the coil... the same way my TV & monitor don't sound like that out loud either.
That said, the H2 pre-amps are not pristine... but for the price, I find it to be one of the best in its category. I absolutely love mine & I think for an entry level piece of kit, it is great. But yes, if willing to spend the money, there are better models out there.

Bumpity.
About to go on holiday to the seaside... Last year I went on a dolphin sighting boat trip, and wanted to use my hydrophone to record the dolphins underwater... The ship's skipper was very cool about it and even had the same make and model as I did! However, when we got out - the water was too choppy and he couldn't safely kill the engine.
I'm hoping for better luck this year. Also going to do some rock pooling and see if I can get any decent sounds. Fingers crossed.

If you ever decided to do a big for-pay pack I'd buy it.
