Post by m4tt29 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 10:20 pm

hi,
im trying to get that good growl automation, ive been trying to figure it out but not doing too well, ive been messing around with the formant vowels in the EQ8 in Ableton but im not doing so well.

i was wondering if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction on how to achieve this, i would be very grateful, i have tried the search but havent found what im looking for.

an example is in this track at 1:11

Check the growl bass thread in the Sound Design sub-forum. You don't really need the EQ automation, if you want a growl bass, it's easier to do it in Operator/FM8/Sytrus, then just boost the formant peaks. EQ automation tends to work well only on the Reese-like basses that have some amount of formant content.
