How to make a Seven Lions ambi-glitch Noise?

Post by Katharsis » Sat Aug 10, 2013 7:19 pm

Does anyone know how to make a seven lions kinda ambient glitch? Like in the beginning of this remix:

or in the stems for "Days to Come"? I tried this synth called BendBox (which is a great free circuit-bent emulator synth thing) but that's way to obnoxious and not enough atmospheric.
Any tips would be VERY helpful!
Thanks!

did you have to make up that name? Anyways sounds like a reverb tail on a slice of the vocal reversed, layered with a pad and the synth blips which is probably a sine wave at a high octave distorted / bitcrushed progressively throughout the sound, as you can hear. (use automation)

This person knows what they are talking about, that's the way to do it.

For coming up with these type of things, it's just a matter of bouncing things to audio and chopping them up, and tbh, I just think seven lions fucked around, put in some random stuff and layered/chopped them until it sounded good. I have a friend who does these type things by recording some different guitar notes and stuff, then adding lots of (random) effects and slicing them up.
I need to stop changing my sig

Wow. A lot of places I wouldn't have thought to looked. Thank you all so much. I gotta go experiment now. :)
