I cant remember but was basic stuff. Some excite, bitcrush, tube. Compression about half way and its magic EQ is the same thing. Tiny flanger and thats it.

I use a similar sound in my newest track. Made with nothing but massive. Except i used the space designer in logic for its reverb but that doesn't matter. Skip to about 12 seconds in or just listen. Soundcloud

Hmm...which sound? Theres a vowel wobble like the d-jahsta thing, then a growl, then a riser then a reese bass.bouncingfish wrote:Wicked tune!Batsy wrote:I use a similar sound in my newest track. The riser
-sent to a bandpass - cutoff 4 o clock bandwidth 5 o clock resoance 12 o clock
-Performer with only 2 bars turned on, first is / second is the flat - dragged all the way up. 1/1 ratio. Make this perf modulate the cutoff of the bandpass.
-No Modulation osc activity
-Sine Shaper
-4 unisono voices with slight pitch cutoff detuned to -1.00
-Slight pan positioning
-Take envelope 1, make it rise or decay and slap that under the -24.00 on your carbon
-Modulate the WT position of the carbon with envelope 1 as well for added harmonics/emphasis on the rise or decay.
-Add one of the tubes, a dimension expander and play with the EQ. I'm playing it at C2 on the keyboard

Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
Got to say thats pretty good man
If you resample and more effects it would be professional grade A awesome. What did you do in the massive patch? Probably something very similar to some patch i have laying around ahaha. How dose the reverb work in logic or is that a specialized plugin for an different effect.
I never really understood how reverb plugins work
I normally add it with trail and error system but it works for what im doing. I think a good reverb is about 60% this sort of sound and the rest is distortion and fast delays.
*Edit
Heres a soundcloud clip of something im working on. Its an experiment with some fx chains and other technics in ableton. Its getting a nice sound to it. The last clip I Eq some harsh sounds out and it seemed to make it sound more rounded.

Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
Patch is one oscillator. Gentle Speech. Sent to a scream, with a 1/2 wobble lfo modulating the entire WT of gentle speech left to right, and a performer with whatever riff pattern modulating the cutoff in the scream. Thats the basics. To really make it pop i used massive's delay and dimension expander and eq'd it.R3b_Official wrote:Got to say thats pretty good manIf you resample and more effects it would be professional grade A awesome. The real trick with the d-jahsta sound is the comb filter. He doesnt even use massive but im pretty sure he sends his sound through a comb filter. Play with the pitch and feedback.
Logic has an amazing reverb plug in called space designer. I selected a small reverb that wouldn't overwhelm or cluster the sound with echo, and eq'd the patch to brighten the highs and take out 80 hz and down. In the performer im using the ^ curve which is basically a quick wobble but it really brings the vowel sounds out. If you just use a / curve or something it just sounds like metallic stabs.

Oh sweet, Thanks for the wave tip and use ^ Ill try that out with my sound and look around for an decent comb filter plugin. I always here of this bifilter, ill check it out. Thanks for the description m8 big up!

Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
It's a sick sound you just need to drop it lower and expand it. Use a spreader if your daw has one, if your using massive add very slight pitch cut off and some pan position and add voices! It'll really make the sound bigger.R3b_Official wrote:Oh sweet, Thanks for the wave tip and use ^ Ill try that out with my sound and look around for an decent comb filter plugin. Yeah I know I got it. Going to make a nice bass line and just add it into my fx racks and see how that comes out. Also do little more pre eqing and add a nice sub to it. Whats a spreader? I dont normally add the pitch cut off and voices for sounds like these because then the harmonics go wack after adding different stuff on top of it but ill certainly try. Its really good though for reeces if you want for of that twisting sound.
Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
Autopanned Gated reverb and a dimension expander work really well to spread the stereo image.
Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
What azuk said is true. Also, it should only mess up and sound twisty if you forget to add a bit of pitch cutoff. Every single one of my patches is at least 4 voices just because i love the thickness. But that's just preference. Pitch cutoff and pan position is vital! A spreader widens the sound but i don't use it to often unless a sound seems like it needs more depth. I've also learned that the EQ in massive is super important for every sound and you can really change the patch entirely with the frequency and boost knobs. Modulating those two or whatever.R3b_Official wrote:Batsy wrote:It's a sick sound you just need to drop it lower and expand it. Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
Alright cool, good to know.Lately ive been trying to modulate the effects and the actual eq in massive. Sometimes doing small things like that brings the sound out a lot! I think the last time I made a patch I put an lfo and some crazy env inside the phaser effect and got a good sound.
I went on DOA a couple days ago and asked a couple questions. The guys over there were pretty helpful and said this should be done really in an fm synth and add an external comb filter plugin. Just keep adding good harmonics in fm with a base as a saw/square and just try some volume lfo or envelops and you get nice wobble going and then you add the some distortion with something like trash 2 or ohminicide and then you throw down your comb filter and work on getting a nice sound in the mix. Will be trying this out when i find a good filter to "test" out. Post something when im done.

To be fair, all growly stuff is really much easier on FM. SoundMagic Spectral has a Comb Filter Bank
