Bold statement. Might have to give it a go..
I'm about halfway through Rome, so it might be an unfair comparison, but honestly very little has ever had me fiending for new episodes than Borgias. My lady and I watched very little else while we worked through three series! Jeremy Irons is a great anchor for it.

The only killer is that the story doesn't get properly finished - Showtime pulled funding before they could make the 4th series despite it getting rave reviews all over the place.
It's based on a real family though, isn't it? Would their Wiki page serve as a good enough tool for closure?

Yeah, it's all there - problem is, reading it all made me want to watch it happen even more.

thx for the bump!
Currently watching the wire, which is quite good thusfar (but then again HBO has quality)
Also watching Dexter s8 (has gotten a bit bad) suits (ok) Sherlock (it's good but not as good as everybody says) boardwalk empire (god damn you eunuch, very good imho) GOT (action where art thou), seinfeld (good) Homeland (good) vikings (best one of the year)
Was about to check archer but after 2 episodes I don't really know what to think of it

haven't seen SOA after season 3, anybody who seen season 4 have a reason why I should too? Season 3 was a bit weak imho (Ireland really?)
Might want to watch arrested development but the imdb description isn't really helping, someone who watches it care to elaborate on why to watch it?

Liam what's justified about? Why is it good?
@ diego what's the head about? Seems familiar

edit; whoops
edit2; aren't they considered one of the most powerful families to have lived?

Yeah, i've been rewatching The Wire. Finished season two last week but don't have the others with me so i'll have to wait a bit. Wicked show though, obviously.
Boardwalk Empire I think i'm up to date with it.. unless the new season has started without me knowing.
Arrested Development is very, very good imo. Hard to say why.. Just has great lines, a mixture of subtle and overt humour and all of the characters are hilarious in their own way. Essential viewing imo and I don't say that lightly.

SoA picked back up after Season 3, well worth the watch shit get's crazy can't wait for the new season.
Justified is basically about a US Marshall coming back home to Kentucky and enforcing the law how he sees fit. Really good show has Timothy Olyphant as the lead and Walton Goggins from The Shield is on it as well.
You should also watch The Shield if you've never seen it, one of my fave shows bar none.

I really need to start watching the Wire.
SOA seems decent as well from suggestions in here.
Never bothered with the Borgias or Baordwalk Empire.
But I never got into Rome either.
And I haven't watched Game of Thrones yet.

I battle to get into the period series sometime.

I found The Wire a bit grey... haven't made it past the first couple of episodes I don't think. Keep meaning to give it another go because it gets so many good reviews. It takes a LOT for a cops/robbers show to keep me interested tbh - Dexter never really grabbed me either.

The Wire is imho one of the more realistic cop shows out there, just got into it and pleasantly surprised by it.

EH; I should really bother with boardwalk empire if I were you, well worth it

@ deadly isn't the shield about those dirty cops and whatnot?

I'm not really a fan of cop shows, tbh. The Wire is so much more than that though... Ah, i'm not going to bang on about it because everyone already does and that, for me, would put me off watching it a bit.. But watch it! Your life is not complete until you do!!

I probably mentioned it earlier in the thread, but Southland is really great show (dare I say the best cop show to date) that gets overlooked. Unfortunately it got canceled, made it 5 seasons though.
If you're into cop shows Da Vinci's Inquest is really good, Canadian medical investigator. It even continued on with the main character becoming mayor (iirc) in Da Vinci's City Hall.
Longmire is another cop show on atm that I dig, has a western vibe to it due to it's setting.

Did anyone watch Hannibal on Sky Atlantic? Thought it was great... Took a good 4 episodes to properly get going but then all the deaths/murders got worse & worse. Liked how twisted the whole thing was

Yeah, Hannibal was really good. Hope it doesn't get played out like Dexter did but I can't see an alternative. Then again, i'm not a screenwriter, so.

Edit - Just started the first episode of Justified. Was sold as soon as I saw it was your man from Deadwood (he was a G in that). Guessing it'll be more G-ness throughout but in a 21st century setting.
