Suggestions on a keyboard
So I'm looking for a 61+ key keyboard to get for my room. My price range is tentatively 50 to 250 dollars. I would really like it to have weighted keys and a pedal (can be purchased separately if necessary). Just wondering what you guys recommend either from experience or from something you've read or heard.
If quickly scanned this thread: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=276482
... but it wasn't clear to me if the keys were weighted or not on the particular product that was suggested.
I'm in the process of looking through this thread right now, http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=67046, but none of them say if the keys are weighted or not and it's going to take me awhile to look up each one individually.

The M-Audio Oxygen 61 is semi weighted.
Re: Suggestions on a keyboard
I wasnt fond of the key feel of the Oxygen personally... Had one and ended up trading it in because the keys feel cheaply madewub wrote:The M-Audio Oxygen 61 is semi weighted.

MPK61 is semi weighted as well. Do the pad mod and you have a dope controller. Might be a bit outside your budget though.

Re: Suggestions on a keyboard
yeahh definitely out of my budget, I've looked at my finances for college and such and the max I can spend is around 200 dollars. I might just wait it out till I more to spend but that's the point of this thread, to weigh my options, so thanks for the suggestion.SunkLo wrote:MPK61 is semi weighted as well. Also, what do you guys mean by semi-weighted? I understand that any keyboard under 200 dollars isn't going to have the same weight as an actual piano... I'm also having the problem that in a lot of the product descriptions on retail sites they don't say if the keys are weighted or not, and that's kind of a deal breaker for me.

Re: Suggestions on a keyboard
It's still spring action instead of hammer, but there's more resistance than synth action keys. It's about the same resistance that a piano would have except it feels different. Hammer action feels nicer and more satisfying when playing chords for instance, but semi weighted is a good compromise between weight and speed.
