Re: What Hip Hop Song are you listening to?
yeah, well put.
And I can't believe most people don't find it completely silly and offputting the way he changes between singsongy rappyrap to strained tough guy voice.

Kendrick verse was pretty weak for the hype but I'm glad it happened, I've enjoyed the 2 replies posted in this thread. Hopefully some more on their way! Bored of reading what people think about it, if some good diss tracks come out of it lets just sit back and enjoy them. All fun & games. Don't listen to much Hip Hop but relating it to grime its why I love Trim so much.. his bars against people aren't always the best but you can always trust him to call someone out, not afraid to name names. Just having the bollocks to call someones name out is sometimes enough to spark something (musically) good.
Also Earl Sweatshirt - Doris can be streamed in full, really liking it on the first listen!

Re: What Hip Hop Song are you listening to?
Just listened to Earl Sweatshirt's Doris Album. Twice. It's incredibly dense musically. It's going to take me several listens to figure out exactly what he's saying in each track because of the way he layers verses with internal rhyme, assonance, and consonance. Musically there isn't a weak tune. All the beats are very good, but none of them are really catchy, which isn't a bad thing at all. Best songs are probably Hive, Whoa, Chum, which are all singles, Burgundy and Sasquatch. But there isn't really a standout track. All of them are good in their own way.

Chum stands out for me. The album seems a little dull on first listen but maybe it's a grower.

Re: What Hip Hop Song are you listening to?
was listening to all those top10 gucci mane tunes at fact, I thought maybe 1 tune at max was listenable (the one from WW3 lean)
Re: What Hip Hop Song are you listening to?
honestly I have no idea how anyone can like that kind of stuff
Re: What Hip Hop Song are you listening to?
i don't mind listening to newer rap stuff next to the old school
i rate some chief keef, waka flocka, lil reese etc. but most of the stuff is pretty crappy. never got around liking lil b, I get that he's funny, takes the piss out of everything and that but I hardly find any tracks that are appealing to me (same goes for gucci)

as a rule I avoid anyone with "lil" in their name.

I had this whole scuffle over this very subject in the Ignorant Hood Shit Thread. I'm with Hugh on not being a Gucci fan, however, I think a lot of the success of rappers like Gucci, Yo Gotti, Chief Keef etc. has to do with their producers (Lil Chop etc.) And for what it's worth I think Lex Luger is a dope producer and Waka is able to compliment the aggression of his productions well..
I don't mind Lil B at all. I'm just not always sure what he's aiming for artistically. He's kinda all over the place.

Yeah Simmie is sick. And fix up guys, Lil B is a fucking genius and I honestly say that with no irony whatsoever.
