Good DAW demos?

Post by test_recordings » Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:59 am

I've been looking for a DAW to use and using the full FL Studio one reminds why I hate it and will never pay for the full version (I'd avoid it even if I had it free).

I've got Reaper on my list, probably try some others. What's some decent demos that represent the final product? I'm only asking instead of just downloading everything as I've got a download limit...

Reaper is a complete working product.

I already dislike Abelton's mixing capabilities, I like the sequencer though. I can get a good vst sequencer in another DAW, but not a good mixer

This is nonsense. There is (almost) no difference between ableton's mixing capabilities and a DAW like logic/Fl/reason! Only difference is there is no standard eq built in every rack... Which is a good thing imo.
I even dare to say ableton's mixer is better than those... (Logic is on the same level) It's compact, to the point, automation is easy, visual feedback is great... What you dislike about it? I know there are people saying Ableton's audio engine isn't that good... That's wrong. (Maybe it was)

And I don't really get what you are saying about a sequencer.

Really I don't want to diss on other DAWs, you probably can do the same thing... But Ableton has so many advantages! If you are making electronic music it really is the greatest DAW out there... It's easy, simple and fun to use. It isn't restricted to a 'hardware' format like the other daws! (routing, busses, groups, ...) And no other DAW comes even close to the timestretching things you can do with ableton. (Changing BPM in other DAWs really is a pain in the ass, at least in my experience)

OK, stupid argument. Chose which ever DAW you like... I am just an ableton fanboy.
Read some more about DAW's, test some demo's and I hope you'll find the one you need! :) Don't let pictures fool you!

Okay let's reviews of the DAW ffor the DAW thread. I have mostly experienced Ableton and Fruity and I'm not happy enough to just buy them outright so I'm looking at others.

The problems I've had with Ableton are in other threads already. Fruity loops just annoys me

That's the most likely option, though I need to try it with monitors first. I'm interested in the signal routing
