I love a harsh soundin snare that as Joe Nice put it "slaps you round the face" but at the same time Benga is the grand daddy of claps

normally a dry crisp snare, although a warm clicking hand clap can sometimes do the trick.

I use claps to sharpen up snares... usually the cheesy oldschool-sounding ones.
