Liquid dubstep common super bright sound

Post by AntidoteWasTaken » Mon Aug 19, 2013 4:13 pm

So I have heard this sound a ton of times in many different works and I figured I'd give it a shot.
https://soundcloud.com/dubstep/for-you-by-killabyte

after the drop in this song you can hear the sound I'm talking about (it's the one layered behind the square)
At first I thought some sort of super wide saw with a deep sine or quieter saw behind it, but after about 10 throw away patches I figured it was high time I asked for some help.

PS. I did try using the search but I didn't know what it was called and what I did manage to find wasn't what I was looking for.

Thoughts?

Hey, I'm fairly new here, but I had the same problem as you.
not quite sure if that's the sound you're after because you didn't mention it, but if you mean the kind of supersaw.
Well basically just make a supersaw on massive,
basically detuned oscillators with supersaw shapes,1 in the positive, 1 in the negative, and 1 normal, add some phaser and modulation, some small reverb, dim exp, some white noise, just experiment and feel what you like

I was in love with this kind of sounds and i feel you man, its so hard to start from scratch with people calling you newbs and to learn from base and shit blabla.
but it get's so boring and you kinda loose the interest in it when you have no fkn clue where to start.
here are the tutorials i used to start, maybe it will help you as much as it helped me

culture code's tutorial, kinda explains you some usefull shit about supersaws and shit

( recommand you watching all of her tutorial, sound your looking for is in it )
Kinda the most helpfull tutorial i have ever seen to start to slowly understand massive and how to create a sound and understand wtf you do ^^

Piano notes and chords
Maybe you're not a passionate musician, but I would take the time to learn all of this stuff, your melodies and pads will be so much more awesome

Sidechain compression
( that kind of effect that when a certain sound plays, it kinda like sucks in the other sounds, kinda like in made of clay from dubba johny )

yeah well sorry if that's not what you're looking for or if you know all that stuff alredy, but anyways i hope you learn something from all of this !

also sorry about my non-profesionnal language ( I'm just a beginner ) and also my sketchy english, not my native language, but you could probably say that alredy~~
good luck dude
