Bass minor sounding clash

Post by Fletchur » Wed Aug 21, 2013 9:32 am

I have this track and the chords have certain notes which make it more "feel good" and upbeat sounding. The bass however relies on the root note and this on its own sounds similar but with a darker sound.

Having the minor bass and the happier chords just isn't working, its not the feel I want. I want the bass to sound subtler but still happy if that makes sense.

Any tips is appreciated, I can't do bass chords because they just sound bad. I have pads and strings going on also.

The root note of each chord or the root note of the scale?
Because the root note of the scale doesn't always sound that good witch each chord! So find another note for the chords that are clashing!
OR find another bass sample... Because sometimes a sample can have some extra harmonies that just don't fit your track/scale!

I've put the track up now in my original comment,I'v changed the arrangement so it doesn't follow the chord root notes exactly anymore

I mean like, say I have a chord progression, the bass does the same with each root note of the chord but not the other harmonies of the chord so its just like a simpler pattern, the same but without the extra notes of the chord.

Let me know if you think the bass is loud enough in the track I put up and whether the pattern I've made for it goes or ruins the "feel good" vibe. I can't tell anymore

Thanks!
