Can I glue something on the back of my speaker
or do you think it will affect the acoustics too much?
I have a pair of 5" monitors that I am bringing to a college dorm. I have a kesington lock kit for my computer stuff, and if I want to use it for my speakers I just have to press this little plastic plate with a hole in it (the square thing in the picture) onto them somewhere with superglue.

I was thinking the best option is the big metal plate on the back, but Im a little paranoid and want to try to make sure that it wouldn't somehow change the acoustics of the speakers. I really don't think it will, but I know that speaker acoustics are a real touchy bitch. It probably won't even matter at all because the room acoustics and their location in it will probably be the worst too, but whatever.

Isn't it similar to closed and open back of headphones?
Depth is a delusion, the deeper you look the less you see.

theres no ports on the back of the speakers, just the metal plate where all the switches and knobs and inputs are, so not really sure how that relates

Isn't there already a metal plate on the back of your monitors?
I don't think it would be a problem.

If the back is closed, I don't see why not. They stick foam in there to reduce reflections from inside the box.
