I couple of sounds I'm trying to recreate...

Post by JohnNada80 » Mon Aug 26, 2013 2:25 pm

Ever since I started trying to produce dubstep a few years ago, I've mostly been making dub/reggae influenced tracks, in the style of producers like Radikal Guru, but in the last year or so I've fallen in love with the 'dungeon' sound, and there are a few specific sounds that I've been struggling to recreate. If anybody could give me pointers on how to create these sounds, or whether they are soft synth presents, I'd be very grateful...

Sound #1

That sweeping/growling sound that so many dungeon producers use.

For example, between 1:39 and 1:42 of 'Tesla' by Perverse:

At 1:09, 1:16, 1:23 etc of 'Submerged' by Sleeper:

At 2:02 of 'The Risk' by Sleeper and District:

Sound #2:

The string/pad sound that Kryptic Minds use a lot in their album 'One Of Us'.

For example, the sound they use between 0:00 - 0:52 of the title track:

And between 0:28 - 0:54 of 'Organic':

Is this a soft synth preset, a sample or self created? Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks in advance
