big up to the raters and the haters!, nah on the real good to see some criticism, i can see where people may be coming from. However i fail to see how any of the tracks on Old School Methods are chopped up oldskool samples, because they're not (apart from the vocals), scattah rinsed a few bait samples, but for the sake of being bait and nodding directly to an era, I saw Scattah as a dancefloor tool as opposed to a full composition like these 4 tunes. Also big up Garethom as if you remember RGB EP hahahaha, damn.

On the subject of revivalism and homaging, i think something Zomby said (i know, a questionable source) rounded it up quite nicely. Everything realistically has been done in electronic music, there are no new boundaries to cross, i'm big on IDM and Breakcore too, and even that is the most out there futuristic music there is and that is starting to repeat what it was doing in the late 90's. I think all that's left is to cross-polinate what we know and what we love. You get people like Wen drawing for early grime with the sparseness of early dubstep and the swing of garage, then Epoch with the raw electronics and distortion of Vex'd but with the space and vibe of early Caspa, then a lot of people are rebirthing grime.

One things for sure though, i am fucking sick of every club i enter booming 4x4 kicks and some vibey half arsed synth sampled from a detroit record or Massive with color and chord loaded on the patch lol.

But yeha big ups to all you, it's nice to know theres still a thread on here where people keep it real

Big up on being the first producer on here to respond to anything other than absolute praise and not be a complete arsehole about it. Hope you see that the heads in here defo ain't hating, always appreciating. Probably one of the most sensible discussions about tunes I've seen on DSF lately.

this is a travesty lol, it's not Source Direct's fault they're being heralded by hipsters like Blackest Ever Black. Leave the 5-panels for the techno kids living in Shoreditch on their fortunate parents fortunes. :a:

Tessela kills it every fucking time, knows how to make tunes bang hard. It's ashame whenever i see him he plays bait techno for about 45mins then plays hackney parrot and another hardcore influenced tune.

Id say Blackest Ever Black are far from hipster lol, there is nothing hip or cool or whatever about the music they release (not saying I dont like some of it)

and what is bait techno? lol Tessela probably keeps it real regarding techno than most

Hmm maybe for a reach around or an alaskan bobsled.

Bait techno to me is where it's just a kick drum a hi hat and some dissonant echo every 2mins

ahh i think our definitions of hipster are getting mixed up. I see that stuff ^^ as just.. studenty, country kids coming to the big city and discovering MDMA and going along with whats cool. Hipster i see as the peculiar stuff that guys stroke beards to (which i definitely define as better lol)
