I kinda like these Ministry of Sound collections, because they gave me a digital version of Misty Winter and now, Spongebob.

Makes me cringe that some of this can even be called dubstep let alone classics. :a:

That's the point though, they won't. It's shit like this that makes us sound even more like twats when trying to explain what dubstep actually is :corncry:

like it or not, most (if not all) the tunes are dubstep and were really popular at one point; it's just a style you don't like. dungeon is pretty different from "true" dubstep but you don't see that many people saying it's not dubstep

wild guess: there isn't an army of figuratively cocksucking tnucs going on about how Biome invented dubstep and whatnot.
it's not the music. it's the fans that piss me off.

also dungeon has sub bro

this isn't a discussion about the fans though. but the dudes going on about how x is dubstep / y isn't dubstep are just as annoying. let it go ffs

also plenty of bro has sub bro

sorry, wasn't really clear enough I guess. I completely agree, but people will get angry and butthurt over the fans and feel the need to educate the world or sth and will end up hating anything with more mids than Fatman.

dungeon imho never had a displeasent sideeffect on most people (except maybe bore the shit out of you). it doesn't get shoved in your face, that's why nobody really cares, nobody feels entitled or anything.
if ben verse would've gone to become skrillyboy and was playing some rock festivals things might look different.

Half of them are Nero remixes lol

Hyph Mngo though >>>

I guess its hard, please the masses + add some real classics. Can't really deny Bass Cannon is a classic regardless of what people think of it, depressing but true.

I assume they'd have to clear it to release the tunes, so no Mala/Loefah I'd assume they tried and got turned down. Hope thats the case anyway.

Hmm, can defo see your point, but the way I see it, a classic is a tune that people are gonna be talking about in years to come. More people might care about Bass Cannon than Anti-War Dub now, but in 10 years time, are those people still gonna care?

That's just my IMO. Hard to define a classic, and tbf, don't really think MoS are the ones to do it.

Because it's not just a dubstep classic, but a classic in dance music overall?

well yeh but the rest are consistently brostep tracks or tearout dubstep tracks, and Joy is like neither of those :| maybe i'm over thinking it

I think so, maybe spoken about more in a bad light than anything but of the heavier tunes Bass Cannon is pretty popular. I think it'll get spoke about more than Lean Forward for example.

I'm sure it featured on that Plastician 'Sound That Speaks Volumes' mix & Skream played it at DMZ. That tune pretty much split the scene in 2 dragging a few original guys into the heavier side.

Depends on your definition of 'classic' but its certainly an important tune in dubstep history.

MoS don't give a fuck about the music anyway its all about the money, they're a popular brand in music.. that + popular genre + the word 'classics' = £$£$£$$£$£$££

Looks like a very uneven compilation. The none tear-out material seems like it was thrown in more as an afterthought, just to try to have balance. Instead the compilation ends up being a maddeningly inconsistent even by compilation standards. The second half has a few too many remixes IMO, I don't see any V.I.P's either.
