Re: The SNH Football thread
if you look at the prices players have been going for this/ last few windows i don't think thats a panic buy.... the guy is significantly younger than Cavani, Falcao etc too.
Everyone has been on at wenger for years to spend big, this finally gets that monkey off his back

Re: The SNH Football thread
It's not really relevant that he's 18 months younger than Cavani and Falcao, for one they we're bought by PSG and Monaco where normal financial constraints don't apply and their fee isn't going to be significantly altered by their age, the difference between 24 and 26 isn't particularly dramatic.murky21 wrote:if you look at the prices players have been going for this/ last few windows i don't think thats a panic buy.... the guy is significantly younger than Cavani, Falcao etc too.

He also seems to play in a position where you have some players already, he's a good player but seems expensive and not exactly what you need.

Re: The SNH Football thread
talking about market value here. he's 28 months younger than falcao, and 15m cheaper. how is age not relevant? when you invest in a player you look at ROI in terms of sell on value and years at their peak. 28 months is a long time in football - 1 year was the difference between van persie going for 24 and him going for £0. Also what has Monaco & PSG's 'financial constraints' got to do with anything? regardless of their budgets, they affect market value with their bidding, as do chelsea, man city and the rest. Arsenal clearly do not have financial constraints with a bid like this either......
Whether he was exactly the player needed is a different matter, but theres not one arsenal fan out there, nor many pundits that aren't impressed with this move

Re: The SNH Football thread
Øzil has been held back a bit in real to be fair. I can see him playing up to a level of Cazorla or Silva or similar in the PrL, if he goes.

Re: The SNH Football thread
tbh half of me agree's with this but there's never a bad time to get a player like that. it's always going to be a positive impact signing a player of that quality.scspkr99 wrote:not exactly what you need.
the only thing this might ruin is my fantasy football team while i work out whose gonna be starting regularly
Re: The SNH Football thread
because comparing what you are paying for Ozil with what Monaco and PSG are paying for Cavani and Falcao ignores the fact they don't care about the sell on and they are distorting the market rather than responding to one that's been distorted. They over pay when comparing what you are paying with clubs that overpay your benchmark is bollocks.murky21 wrote:talking about market value here. he's 28 months younger than falcao, and 15m cheaper. how is age not relevant? when you invest in a player you look at ROI in terms of sell on value and years at their peak. 28 months is a long time in football - 1 year was the difference between van persie going for 24 and him going for £0. Re: The SNH Football thread
Willian to Chelsea for about the same, Lamela to Spurs though he did reasonably well at Roma over the last two years. Market is fucking nutssouthstar wrote: Sounds like it's done, 36m. A lot of money for a player thats not exactly a world star
Re: The SNH Football thread
You can thank PSG and Monaco for that. It was bad before but they've pushed the prices to a ridiculous level now

Re: The SNH Football thread
yeah and to a lesser extent Chelsea and Man City but Bacelona spent > 55m on Neymar and RM had just done 100m on Bale. The games kinda fucked tbhsouthstar wrote:You can thank PSG and Monaco for that. It was bad before but they've pushed the prices to a ridiculous level now
Re: The SNH Football thread
id say tv money accounts for for a fair bit too
tho i dont think it accounts for 100 million euro in r madrids case.
sometimes it does all feel like a massive house of cards waiting to fall down.

u wot mate? Ozil was arguably Real's most important player positionally over the past two seasons by sitting behind the striker and infront of Alonso/Khedirahubb wrote:Øzil has been held back a bit in real to be fair. Re: The SNH Football thread
it definitely counts for loads in England and the new deal is significantly bigger than previous. It's not going to help the smaller clubs though not unless FFP actually starts to bite and not while chairman risk bankrupting their clubs.hutyluty wrote:id say tv money accounts for for a fair bit too
