I want to learn how to make electronic music

Post by Catwarrior » Mon Sep 02, 2013 10:56 pm

so basically as the title says I want to learn how to make this kind of music. I don't really know much about anything except on how it sounds like. Can you guys teach me the basics or give any advice and tell me what I need to know or have? :dunce:

My advice would be to find a forum dedicated to electronic music production and read their sticky guide on getting started.

Pick a DAW (Live, Cubase, FL studio...) and search up tutorials on youtube.. forums is not where you should start but where you shall continue.

There's been so many threads regarding this topic. Try searching first than just creating a thread and expect a flood of forum users to give you tips

Bear in mind there's a section dedicated for this exact situation so don't feel too disheartened if this thread isn't taken too seriously :D

But read through the sticky, it covers all you need to know about getting started with a DAW, sorting out your comp for use with production and many other gems of advice. Keep lurking and try to pick up everything you can. (Check out some producer tutorial vids as well) and that should get you in the right position to start making tunes.

From there the world is your oyster, good luck!

Yeah man, I wouldn't suggest starting off on a forum asking questions because all your gonna get is HATE! Snide ass, sarcastic, desperately trying to appear elite type comments.

Pick a DAW. (Digital Audio Workstation) I use Ableton Live and I definitely reccommend it. It's great for a beginner or an experienced producer. It can be as deep as you need it to be, or not.

Start experimenting. Make some 8 or 16 bar loops. Most DAWs come w/ stock synth's and effects, start w/ those.

Watch the shit outta youtube tutorials!! There is enough information floating around the internet to master just about anything especially producing!

Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Fucking hell lads, just try being civil and welcoming to new people just once, this forum could REEALLY do with some new members.

Catwarrior - the sticky mentioned previously can be found here: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=159713 and contains loads of great places to get started.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.
