Con Amore Recordings
Night Tracks
at the very least talk with Garethom he's a pretty frequent poster on DSF and he runs Night Tracks. knows a ton about the ambient/Lo Fi scene
now get out there
Anyway I should probably start small.. I've sent tracks off recently but probably too the wrong ones atm.. (HUGE LABELs)
Cheers for the list. I'll have to send them all something

Re: fans?
I agree that working on your music is priority number one there are certain things you can do to help get exposure so that when your music is good enough you will be ready to push it.
1. DJ'ing. Get gigs, play your sounds. Send to other DJ's (radio, gigs etc) ask them to mention your track.
2. Other producers. Find guys who are into a similar sound and send them over, even if they don't DJ they might know the right person to send them to (whether that's a DJ who can play them or a label that can sign them)
3. Online Promo. This can be anywhere from hitting up blogs who promote this sort of thing to pushing your soundcloud links out (email etc see this one all the time) and also adding to groups can be useful on there

Re: fans?
Networking is never easy. May be fun but it does take a lot of work. Not that I'm a networking genius by any means. Actually this thread introduced a lot of methods to me. I actually have a meeting with a record executive this afternoon and he said he prefers a flash drive. I assume that a lot of labels and even bigger producers prefer your material on a flash drive rather than a cd. Correct me if I'm wrong. As I said before I am no genius in the networking thing.
Re: fans?
I am going to tell it how it is, people who give the 'ole.. networking blah blah, djing blah blah, go out and meet people blah blah.. Its bollocks quite frankly it might of worked in 99 but this is 2013. The generation of yolo and throwing away things a day after buying them.
I hardly have any fans, probably can name about 15 people who ACTIVELY follow my music though I have like 2k soundcloud followers (give or take a 100 or so).
The world is just messed up. I see it LOADS though, if you get on with a lot of people (which I don't) you seem to an easier ride than someone like myself who actively speaks their mind to people.
So my advice?
Don't be me, be that guy who can put up with stupidity, ignorance and people with just general horrible attitudes because frankly I have only met those in the music world and those are the one who'll spread your name. Talk to EVERYONE you come across. Be it on here, on facebook, at nights.. Just talk and be 'that nice guy'. Talk about your music in a subtle way and eventually people will listen / like.
Sometimes a tnuc doesn't like being told they're a tnuc. Call them a pretty flower instead.

This post has a tremendous amount of validity! It's almost like being a pledge for a Frat house but it never fucking ends ha ha!legend4ry wrote:I am going to tell it how it is, people who give the 'ole.. networking blah blah, djing blah blah, go out and meet people blah blah..
