Track of the Summer

Post by DUSTLA » Sat Aug 31, 2013 8:37 pm

As there have been so many astonishing releases this summer, the real question remains. Which one is your favorite? :)

The Bloodlines EP for sure. Might be my favorite dubstep EP ever. Every song is exceptional, especially Ricochet. Also love Goth Trad's Born to Know.

Author's latest would be the best album IMO.

:o i dont get the old hardcore revival about to kick off. Buy a new tune rinsing samples from old hardcore tracks or just go and buy a load of old hardcore tracks.... utterly lost on me. It's better than that scuba thing from last year though. thats was properly poo.

Didn't Zane lowe used to be radio 1's rock dj?

IMO Hardcore still is still a ripe as fuck source for inspiration. You don't have to just re-do it though, you don't have to use all the old breaks and old samples, but hardcore has that ruffness which is really refreshing compared to today's more conservative bass music. I went crazy when I heard the hardcore jungleish part at the start of the last dusk and blackdown. But it would be a shame if that turns into a thing where everyone just dogmatically sticks to just the standby samples people where using 20+ years ago.

the thing that made hardcore what it was was the utter roughness of the productions, same with grime. im all for revival but using a load of rinsed samples and the like... thats just lazy... and seriously! I do not get the hype over that tune. It's below average. but thats just my opinion.
