Don't just backup your projects.

Post by 3za » Fri Sep 06, 2013 11:52 pm

Back up your Samples to ;-)

I just lost about 1/4 of my samples today, now a lot of my recent tracks are about 1/2 empty when I open them, and some of them play no sound :corntard:
Edit: can someone please re-up the DSF sample comp 35 pack?
I got that on another drive :D

Anyway, keep a hard drive always hooked up. Mac+ time vault= its gonna take more than one crash to bring me down opposed to thins pc bullshit which has cost me 5 pcs over 6 years because bill gates is an asshole that would rather let people crack and or hack into his software then offer proper antivirus protection instead of being in cahoots with norton and macaffe who seem to do nothing more then take your money so they can make you feel like youre part of some sort of protected network even though your not and are make commit youre soul to the corporate machine which happens to be even more worse than mac. That's why i choose apple.

All mine thankfully gets saved inside the project. Eats up a hella load of HD space though :6:

I never had a computer crash on me. I've had broken power supplies etc.. but never lost any data.

My 1TB Seagate external hard drive failed on me today as well. Wont boot up, no light, powers and makes a clicking sound. Good thing i backed up all my samples a couple of weeks ago. I had it for about 3/4 years.

The amount of drives doesn't matter unless you actually back up 3 times

I was mad pissed off yesterday, but I didn't really lose that much tbh, most of it was backed up on other drives :D
Most of the rest can be easily replaced by downloading it again, and some of it's better off lost...
The thing I'm really still pissed off about is losing the really awesome kicks/snares I made to use in cheesy pop EDM tracks. I was using them in loads of tracks, though I suppose I can look on the bright side of things, and now freshen things up by making some even better ones (or at least new) :D

I should probably start to do this...

^I know that feel. I accidentally deleted a pack of snares called "Amazing Snares" that sounded exactly like some snares I've heard in dnb and brostep tunes. Downloaded it off mediafire once but couldn't find it again. I might have it backed it up somewhere though.

same here. renoise projects are pretty much like .rar/compressed folder files. 11.3GB of mostly redundant samples and xml data, but hey its a lot simpler than reaper projects. :u:

I am now of the opinion to never back anything up. If you lose it, so be, do another one.

Its the art of making tunes, not the tunes themselves, that are important.
