I really like the Gorgon Sound EP. Big steppers.

Kahn did a really good job on this, I prefer the VIP.
catch on? lol theres loadsss of ppl who produce tunes in that style. usually they have "Hi Fi" somewhere in their name or sutin
Yeah a lot of people make steppers, but I meant more as in like the dubstep crowd specificially. I think the dubstep sound at the moment could benefit with an injection of some rootsy styles perhaps. What I really dig about the Gorgon Sound stuff is that it has the steppers style with a more modern darker palette. It really works.

haha :|

ah yeah definitely agree with u there man

tmsv is great for that with some of his tunes, but i cant think off the top of my head many other producers who properly have that steppers vibe goin on

Theres loads of rootsy stuff about at the moment, the most that I can remember for the past 2/3 years.

Off the top of my head:

Gorgon Sound double pack
Ruffcut
Lioncharge
System Music (How Ya Feel in particular)
DJ Madd's Roots & Future label
DJ Madd's Mr Marshall bootleg
Alpha Steppa - Two Sacred Swords (DJ Madd Remix) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkR0-jVgcUE
TMSV, Quantum Soul & Kaiju all have a fair bit of dubby stuff on their SCs/in mixes.
Kenzo's been taking things in a rootsy direction recently as well (as well as getting acetates cut)
+ represses of tunes like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKEFzo4VHHo

I think System as an event has also helped the current rootsy dubstep trend. The whole image & style of the night is much closer to say a Shaka dance than a standard dubstep night. Plus I can't think of any big dubstep night that would give a 2hr slot to roots selectors, and for these selectors to get such a good response. System wouldn't be the same without the System Roots warm up, sets the vibe perfectly and everyone enjoys it, found myself enjoying the roots slot more and more with each System :Q:

+ If you really dig the steppers get on Stryda's Sufferah's Choice show: http://www.talawa.fr/media/sufferahs-ch ... 2013-Jm0oN

Alpha steppa absolutely bosses the steppas/dubstep crossover atm everything released on his steppas records label is gold.

Not really a fan of the DJ Madd stuff but I never liked his dubstep stuff either so maybe it's just me.

Can't mention rootsy dubstep without giving RSD his props either.

Wouldn't really call mungos steppas but they are indeed sick.

Saw them at Boomtown and they played loads of new bits, they were all kind of trappy though

Tell me about it man I had the worst comedown of my life, was just sitting there all moody not really enjoying myself.

Luckily Solo Banton came out and bossed like the true entertainer he is.

^ that's a decent mix of steppas/dubstep stuff for anyone interested.

Haha everyone was on that vibe. My gf was sitting there in a similar state only waiting for Musically Mad and they didn't play it

And yeah Solo Banton was on point the whole weekend.
