Citronic Studio Monitors?
Can anyone recommend these brand of speakers? I've have googled about them, but can't seem to find any actual user reviews.
They seem to be on the cheaper side, for example, even brand new a pair of 8 inch monitors are £219.
http://www.djkit.com/citronic/citronic- ... ml?cat=249
How would they weigh up against some Rokit 8's for example which are about double the price.
I see this brand come up on ebay now and again, and I'm always hesitant as I never hear much about them, so would be cool to know if anyone on here has used them and how they fair to the more well known brands.
Thanks, any help is appreciated.

I'm sure this isn't true 100% of the time, but if you can't find reviews about them that doesn't seem like a good sign to me!

No reviews? Never heard of them? Pass.
At least with a brand like KRK you know what youre buying. There not the best, but damn near everyone on the planet has had a pair at some point.

Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
Yeah I'd go with the KRK Rokit 8's, a bit more expensive but you know they're gonna be good quality for that price range.
Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
yea you guys are probably right, I'll prob just pass on them and stick to well known brands. I might go with 6 inch monitors though, I mean my room is about 4m x 3m (10ft by 13ft). surely I'll still get enough low end? I don't really plan to treat the room, Just want a good upgrade from my hi-fi speakers.
Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
Yeah you'll get enough low end out of 6 inch drivers. RP6's are a good low budget pick.
Keep the hi-fi set up though, way nicer for listening to music on.

Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
You should really check out the Adam F5's and F7's and Presonus Eris speakers at that kind of money. Both seem to have a much more even frequency response than the KRK's.

Depth is a delusion, the deeper you look the less you see.
Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
I have heard great things about behringer new truth monitors. B1031a ment to be more balanced than krks and sound similar to yammy hs80's but with with a clearer bass. I got the chance to listen to them and im impressed. In fact its my next studio buy for my small home setup

Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
Think 6 will do for a room the size of his.
If you're going to save up, I'd say go for Mackie or Genelec for example.
Behringer indeed managed to make a crazy flat budget monitor with the Truth's, but flat frequency response is not the
only thing to look at of course.

Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
Wow, thanks for all the help and recommendations guys.
Once I've got monitors is it absolutely essential that I connect them using a DAC? Will the difference in sound quality be huge if I connect them straight to my on board card on my desktop using a male audio jack to 2 male xlr for example? Or has anyone ever compared using the onboard to a dedicated sound card?
If is it essential, do you have any recommendations on budget DACs, I looked around online, but don't really fancy spending 200 on something like a 2i2
I've never had any problems with latency either so that's not an issue and I am not fussed about not having a volume knob in front of me, I'm just curious whether the sound quality will be greatly affected.
If you think I can get away without a DAC for the time being, what is the preferred connection from the audio jack in to the back of my computer? can it just be either rca/trs/xlr (assuming the speaker supports it)? or is one better than the other?
Sorry for all the noob questions.
Again any help is greatly appreciated.
edit - WTF, I just came across these http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/pair- ... to-content
Rip off of krk? I read in another forum they use all the same parts?

Re: Citronic Studio Monitors?
Are those the Presonus monitors that just came out for about 300 bucks? I listened to them earlier this summer and the beat the pants of KRK and Mackie in the price range. The Yamahas still sounded good next them.Tom_Autobot wrote:You should really check out the Adam F5's and F7's and Presonus Eris speakers at that kind of money.
