Schuman Frequency Creative Track Writing

Post by Tom SQNC » Fri Sep 13, 2013 2:00 pm

*Mods please feel free to move unsure where to place

Alo,

This production forum has been great for me,

So here goes

Myself & Vital Elements have been writing music together for around 3 years and we wanted to try something a little bit different,

We took the Schumann frequency 7.83 Hz and multiplied it with the Golden Ratio (Rounded Off) 1.61803398875

to give us our 12 Frequencies

1/ 12.6692061315

2/ 20.4992061306

3/ 33.1684122607

4/ 53.66761838902641

5/ 86.83603064602586

6/ 140.5036490350523

7/ 227.3396796810781

8/ 367.8433287161304

9/ 595.1830083972085

10/ 963.0263371133389

11/ 1558.209345510547

12/ 2521.235682623886

x

1.6180339887

Once we had our numbers, we generated the tones in Soundforge using

1 x SAW wave
1x Square Wave
1x Sine Wave
This gave us 36 tones.

We loaded them into a sampler and off we went

the only sounds not used in freq's generated was the Kick And Snare

I hope its some use to people, to maybe consider different angles when it comes to producing.

If any questions feel free to ask

Cheers Tom SQNC :4:

oh here is the track

good work.

nice idea.. I also like the tune...

It sounds like you tried to reinvent the wheel, when really there is no need to.

Thanks,

It was just an experiment to see if it was a valid idea.

Just another way to go about making music, not saying it is Gospel but another avenue to look at .

And thought it may aid in some people, in some way or form

All good,

It sounded good to me. The idea can be taken further and applied to rhythm, structure, timbre and other elements of music. The Amen Break for example, has the golden mean in its rhythm.

Yeah I'm not knocking it, it's just that I think that you could have made a similar sounding track just by using conventional scales. Still, it's an interesting experiment.
