Scarlett 2i2 is lame
So I have a friend who wants to start messing around with ableton and whatnot, so he wants me to come over and show him something things. So I figured I'd throw some samples I have on a flash drive and give him this 2i2 I have that I don't use. I remember I stopped using it because I got a saffire and one time I went to use it again and it just wouldn't work. No matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall the driver or fiddled with my computers audio settings, it just wouldn't work. So does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be? The scarlett lights up and everything and I can even hear my guitar when I plug it in (this is what led me to believe it was a driver/settings problem) so I have no idea what the problem is. if anyone could help I would really appreciate it.

Define what doesnt work. The daw doesnt reognize it? What OS are you on and does the OS recognize the device? Not even close to enough info here to help. Id get a customer service ticket going as well.

I'm running windows 7 and it does recognize the device and says its sending a signal to the device
Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
But you dont hear any sounds from the computer? There is a dialog in Windows 7 where you have to set the primary output siund device. I forget exactly where it is (on my phone) but often if I forget to boot my interface and windows has already loaded I have to go in and "force" windows to recognize it as the primary sound device.zosomagik wrote:I'm running windows 7 and it does recognize the device and says its sending a signal to the device

Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
Yeah, no sound from the computer. I right click the little speaker icon in the bottom right and click playback devices and it says the 2i2 is the default playback device. But alas, no sound.
Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
Have you tried getting sound from your daw? Honestly Im a bit stumped at this point. If I were sitting in front of the gear and could fiddle my way through it...maybe someone else will come in and help. Sorry man. Ive exhausted my knowledfe at this point unless you can give me some more clues. Maybe disabling all the other devices will help?zosomagik wrote:Yeah, no sound from the computer. I tried disabling all other devices before with no luck. I tried customer service through email, they suggested reinstalling the drivers even though I told them i already tried that (a few times). I cant get audio from anywhere, not my daw nor other applications. The thing that really bugs me though, is that i can get sound from my electric guitar through it...... This really shouldn't be this difficult.

Last thing I can think of...is plugged into the same usb port you installed it on?zosomagik wrote:I tried disabling all other devices before with no luck. Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
If you have onboard audio disable it through BIOS

Never used one myself, I use an Avid Fast Track C400. Love this thing.
Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
Yeah, I use a Safire 6, but like I said i wanna get this working to give to a friend of mine. I'll try it on his computer later and see if it works. Who knows.
Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
Install the drivers, restart, plug it in, try to connect to it through the windows sound panel or through Asio4All in a DAW. You might need to run the driver as administrator or in compatibility mode. Go through the windows audio properties for the card if it shows up and make sure the level's turned up, not muted, set to a sensible sample rate and bit depth, and try testing it with the test button.
Also make sure you're not doing something dumb like not having record monitoring switched on in Ableton or having the direct monitor switch on the interface in the wrong position. Evidently if you can hear your guitar, there's nothing wrong with the box's outputs or anything. It's probably just set to direct monitor the input instead of the guitar looped through the PC and back out again.

Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
You can also go into the properties of the Scarlett and check that the levels aren't muted.
Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
I have exhausted all options to no avail. I emailed focusrite support, but no response yet...... so we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Scarlett 2i2 is lame
have you tried increasing the buffer size in the control panel? if its really low, it probably wont work. stick it up to 20ms or so.
