Tips, help, anything?

Post by Justiboi » Mon Sep 23, 2013 10:03 am

I have been producing for about 2 years and I am 14 years old. I want some help with sound design because I've used massive almost entirely over the two year span. I am really bad compared to producers with a lot less experience than me, and I'm actually kind of not bad at a lot of genres that aren't bass driven. I know for a fact that the reason I can't make dubstep anymore is because I am bad at designing bass sounds, and also bass arrangement. Whenever I attempt it, it sucks. A lot. I want to know what I can do to get out of this because I am very seriously considering quitting. I want to make good music, but when I try, it sounds horrible. My bass is just horrible and I am in desperate need of some tips. I used to be kind of good, and I have only one song I'm proud of making. https://soundcloud.com/retric-dubstep/robot-attack

I've lost my touch and think I have writers block but it's been effecting more than just creativity. It's basically like if I had the exact opposite of the golden producer touch. If I tweak any good bass patch I used to have, I make it sound really bad.

U make some sick sounds for a 14 year old. Only tip I have for you is to switch to a new synth. Maybe try learning fm8. To be honest I don't really think we can help you that much. If you really have writers block just learn a new synth and my suggestion would be fm8

It's a heavily modified version of a modified version of a machine gun bass my friend sent me.

Man you got to be kidding me! I just checked out your soundcloud and you have soild stuff :6: you have all the right stuff in song structure but if you get even a tiny bit better with making new sounds, you'd be set!

Im nearly 17 and i have yet to make a song, and my attempts are shit but i can make some nice basses and syths. Just dont know where to start and finish in song wise :u:
