But srsly - to each their own. I would be the happiest fucker in fuckertown if there was a build of Reaper where I could adjust things like envelopes, clip length, etc. using touchscreen instead of carpal tunnelling it with a mouse.
After looking at it some more I'm a little wary too though.
One of my pet peeves is ig'nant people confusing making music (production) with DJing. And a lot of the hype about this thing uses the two interchangeably; it makes me wonder if they're going to allow 3rd party developers to use the damned thing. And what about qwerty commands? You still need a type interface for a lot of stuff, but I don't see anything about linking the pad peripherals.
If this is just a dumb proprietary "you remix our pre-stocked shit - look - you're a DJ now!" type of thing then yeah, I'm totally disappointed. If this was a velocity/aftertouch sensitive piece of decent MPC-style pads with open everything then I would be the first in line. I don't think it's the latter though.
