Looking for artists to promote

Post by Clutchkick » Mon Sep 23, 2013 9:09 pm

I've started a promotion channel for the deeper/darker styles of dubstep and DnB, and I thought that there might be some artists here that would enjoy some free exposure. When it comes to DnB I'm mostly looking for neurofunk, deep, or "techstep" artists. For dubstep, just your usual deep or dungeon artists.

Is anyone interested? Not sure if I should post links to the channel as I don't want this post to be an advertisement.

Thanks guys. :)

a promotion channel? is that like a youtube channel? are you expecting producers to pay for promotion or are you doing it pro bono? what does the producer get in this deal, meaning do you have any actual contacts or viewers /listeners / subscribers etc who'll hear the music?

Gnnnnnnnnnnnnngghhnngghnnnnn.

How are you promoting the artists?
What budget have you set aside?
What is your average following per video per month?
What revenue will you be releasing to the artist from 'promoting' their video?
What links and networking have you done or got to ensure radio play or syncing?
Are you really 'promoting' artists or decentralizing what limited traffic unknown artists get with no proven increase in bookings, releases or even tangible online exposure and giving yourself an ego boost?

nothing wrong w/ that imo
- decentralised traffic
- probable lack of any increase of exposure
- a million and one dead out yt channels doing exactly the same thing
- expecting artists to approach channel rather than than put work in

are the three key things I think are wrong with it.

It's a false economy, encouraging new, naive producers that they're getting hype because some gash yt channel got 500 views that week, instead of putting the time in. I'm all for immediate gratification, but I don't think this helps anyone.

Start a blog, do interviews, get mixes, promote shops/soundclouds/artists/labels, actually have some kind of tangible impact, credibility and hype.

Imma leave out my soapbox tirade, either way please pay attention to rule number. 5:

5. VIDEO COLLECTION CHANNELS
The solicitation of the forum membership by online video (YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, or similar) site channels looking to establish enormous tune collection's, regardless of whether said tunes are signed, or unsigned, is NOT allowed anywhere on this site. This is for the main reason that the motivation behind these channels cannot be established. Any threads created by channels looking to build massive collections, or looking for subscribers, will have their threads deleted. If we see a pattern of consistent solicitation by these sort of channels then the forum member responsible, and all associated member accounts, will be permanently banned. However, it is important to emphasize the distinction between online video channels created by already established and known labels or producers looking to promote their own discography. These channels are the only kind allowed to solicit.
