Percussive Pluck Synths
Im trying to do the typical new electro drop synth that everybody seems to be using now, i just cant give depth to my plucks which are basically 8xsaws on sylenth with cutooff rolled. Any insight on how make them hit hard? layer them with drums or something like that?
Re: Percussive Pluck Synths
I believe what you're looking for is assigning an envelope to pitch. Experiment with it until it sounds right.
Re: Percussive Pluck Synths
Chromaphone is what Knife Party used for LRAD.
Some of the other tracks out there are actually Vengeance percussion samples.

Chromophone is nice I highly recommend it. But if the OP's got Ableton Suite, Tension is pretty similar to it.mthrfnk wrote:Chromaphone is what Knife Party used for LRAD.

Re: Percussive Pluck Synths
Literally just percussion samples with a hall like reverb. Nothing complicated. That's mainly the sound with the reverb and a eq to boost some peaks for more resonated tone. Haven't tried making something like this in tension....
Will try this and make a generic beat port top 10 track
Look up remake of animals or some other beat port song with the same sort of sound 90% of the time other kids remakes are spot on and use the actual sound. Some nexus or vengeance preset lol

Depth is a delusion, the deeper you look the less you see.

NO WAY BRO

Top ten for sure

Ok so i searched up the plugin and got some interesting sounds, way better than ableton collision and tension for sure.
First looked up a "different" version to try it out for a bit. Couldnt get it working, so went and downloaded the trail version.
Got pretty close with messing around a bit, found a preset thats pretty similar. Had to work fast on it before the 20 min period shut me out and fades the volume in and out.You can here in my link a bit at the end.... So i had freeze the track and unfreez it to adjust it little by little. Duplicated the track and made an under lying hiss noise like the tail of a snare. Then looked through samples for some shitty 808 kick....
My rhythm is way off

Here is the shitty off beat remake!

FL drumpad/drumaxx does this percussive synthesis too. Sakura could if you really wanted.
You could probably get these sounds with bandpass filters instead of lowpass filters on your standard pluck patch.

Thats true, but after messing around with Chromaphone, im starting to really like it! Thinking about actually getting it, has some sick strings and ambient stuff with it. Way better than making a string in massive or sylenth actuallyGregoryTJ wrote:FL drumpad/drumaxx does this percussive synthesis too. Sakura could if you really wanted.

I forgot to save the project and tried another attempt this morning and got the timing on it just right. Layered a couple Chromaphones and its there. I could see why they use it. Big synth if you ask me.

You need a sharper attack and way more high end, also reverb - these sounds are all about the reverb.R3b_Official wrote:Thats true, but after messing around with Chromaphone, im starting to really like it! Used chromaphone. As title says. Excuse me for the overall bad quality of it but I was doing it fast

That is fucking perfect! Could you do a screenshot of some of the settings?mromgwtf wrote:Soundcloud

Re: Percussive Pluck Synths
I used a single instance of chromaphone, and it was a preset. Percussion -> Multi bongo.
But if you load the preset into the chromaphone, you'll hear it sounds completely different from mine. I processed it pretty heavily.
I used:
EQ -> WaveShaper -> Maximus -> WaveShaper -> Reverb -> Gross Beat -> EQ -> Compression
If you use fl studio then here's my mixer preset: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ol8wgtck5kscx3o/yourmom.fst
If you compare it with the synth from LRAD it sounds fucking horrible, but heck, it was my first try. Maybe I should try layering with some really plucky samples.

Yeah I think you need to pump up the metallic side of the sound, the LRAD pluck has such a punchy transient - that's the hard bit imo.mromgwtf wrote:I used a single instance of chromaphone, and it was a preset. Percussion -> Multi bongo.

Re: Percussive Pluck Synths
Trying to get this one is quite a challange... seems as though knife party didnt go with some prec sample with this like every other producer.
We know what vst they used but how did that get that big snap snare feel to it? I got the thud sounding ok but it needs that long bro steppy snare tail. Not the air reverb one.
I think they just dupicated the track and set the dry wet to 100% and it gets a nice feel than just one track with reverb.
A waveshaper plays a big part in this. Messed around with it and got hit and miss results. Got that nice solid big feel but then tried to move another knob and forgot what setting it was at
Any way heres ANOTHER attempt at this.....
