Really? What are they called?blinkesko wrote:Something equivalent of the effects racks, instrument racks and macros can all be done within patcher in fl studio
No need to be lazy, if you highlight and right click a word you can google search it on most browsers. https://www.ableton.com/en/live/max-for-live/blinkesko wrote:I have no idea what Max4Live is
Meaning that it has controllers designed for it that mirror what is on the monitor, so you can work almost totally on the controller. Like when you change something on screen, the lights on the controller change to reflect that.blinkesko wrote:or what you mean by full controller integration
Whether you use it or not, it does it! I've tried FL, but by the sounds of it you haven't tried Ableton. Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance. You might be surprised by this piece of software, I was.blinkesko wrote:You can basically do the same stuff as you do in the session view in the playlist in FL I think. You can map controllers in fl aswell, but not to a set range of values as far as I know, but that's not something I've felt the need for either, the automation clips and stuff do the trick for me.

That Push looks pretty good, might have to try it out.
Reaper is bullshit, I tried it the other day. It's like it's been designed by kids or something, awful cheap daw.
Cubase is pretty good, but a bit old school.
FL Studio isn't easy on the eye, and everything is designed to be awkward. Plus you have to do manual delays on the tracks, so it isn't really a proper daw as it doesnt have the compensation thingy which is essential imo.

Naw cmon, if anything was designed by kids, it's Ableton. FL's pretty Fisher Price as well. Reaper has an attractive, functional GUI. Editing and mixing with it are effortless. Don't be that guy who tries something for 10 seconds and claims it's shit because he doesn't get it.Paddy McMurphy wrote:That Push looks pretty good, might have to try it out.

I don't know why you guys dislike the FL Studio interface so much, it is great.
I suppose this is just my opinion though.

I like the windowed interface.
It makes it easy for me to use with dual screens.

how does ableton look like it's designed by kids? live 9 especially looks extremely bland and average (in it's default skin). i agree reaper does not look like that but neither does ableton imo. can't say the same for FL thoughSunkLo wrote:Naw cmon, if anything was designed by kids, it's Ableton. I think it's just the rounded corners on everything. Plus the icons, knobs, yellow everywhere, just the color scheme in general, they all seem unrefined.

Yeah but like everything once you learn the shortcut keys it's a lot easier. I know that mashing F9 with my chubby digits will bring up the mixer etcSunkLo wrote:Popup windows everywhere.

Fuck you kid, I've been doing this for well over a decade. You don't know shit about me so don't start with the condescension. I appreciate that you like the program, but I don't, and I'm not going to be spoke down to by some forum dickhead. Tone it down.SunkLo wrote:Don't be that guy who tries something for 10 seconds and claims it's shit because he doesn't get it.

Whatever you want to call them, it's basically just what patcher does. Patching if you wanna twist the name maybe?Simulant wrote: Really? What are they called?
Was on my phone and did not have time to check it out, looks good tho, not sure if there's anything equivalent in FL, not that I've seen though.Simulant wrote: No need to be lazy, if you highlight and right click a word you can google search it on most browsers. https://www.ableton.com/en/live/max-for-live/
Controllers specifically designed for FL don't exist as far as I know, but there's the novation launchpads and stuff that will do pretty much the same I guess?Simulant wrote: Meaning that it has controllers designed for it that mirror what is on the monitor, so you can work almost totally on the controller. I've tried ableton and it doesn't flow right for me, I like the way FL works alot more, and I don't feel like there's anything it lacks in terms of what I need. If I have an idea, I can get it down quick and easy, and I love the stock effects.Simulant wrote: Whether you use it or not, it does it! blinkesko - you have to do manual PDC in FL Studio! Most other DAW's do it automatically.
And yeah, I find it awkward and counter-intuitive tbh.

No, it has apdc, and it's on by default in new projectsPaddy McMurphy wrote:blinkesko - you have to do manual PDC in FL Studio! Most other DAW's do it automatically.

Ah, it's changed since i last used it! It was a few years back. It's still a horrible DAW though!

How can you judge it if you don't even know what has changed?
It used to be complete BS, and a good portion of the community around it is still BS, but the DAW itself has grown and is pretty damn great now.
