Distorted Kicks / 808

Post by itsHAZED » Sat Sep 28, 2013 7:24 am

In this song - http://m.soundcloud.com/nickraymondg/kr ... nster-free - at the drop, they first use a distorted hard style kick, and then switches to a trap beat with distorted 808 type bass.

What is the easiest way to recreate those hard style type kicks, and the best way to distort an 808 made in Massive or an 808 Sample, so it sounds like theirs.

Simple distortion/waveshaping/bitcrushing/clipping etc for that trap kick.
Then use EQ to boost the top end, use an exciter/saturator to smash it even more if you want.

Hardstlye kicks are really tonal and imo it's actually quite hard to get them to sound good if you're making them from scratch, tbh I'd recommend using a hardstyle kick sample rather than making it from scratch with an 808 or 909.

If you wanna make one start off as I said above, and start chaining EQ/distortions to emphasise the tonal part/pitch drop of the kick that you want.

Hey, maybe you really need some good hardstyle kicks ?
I Recommend checking those.
Been tweaking with them, having no problems whatsoever. Good Luck
