Making An Intro And Outro For A Friend

Post by R3b_Official » Mon Oct 07, 2013 10:03 pm

So one of m8s has started a youtube channel, i said to him, Do you have any outro or intro stuff playing for you? He says no, and asked him if i could make something and send it into you. You then put my soundcloud or email at the end of your video promoting me.

Most intro and outros are played for a couple seconds so how would i go about making sort of these short short clips of a song? Or should i make a normal tune and let him edit the parts he likes.

Anybody have any experience in the youtube community? My friend makes lets plays and is pretty funny if you ask me and I dont really like channels of just lets plays and gaming videos. Thinking he could get pretty popular, he has the persona and attitude for the job and post some good stuff :W:

On the subject of youtube, i was thinking of making a channel and doing sort of advance tutorials and beginner series for people. Like explain what an osc is, lfo, and filters. Really basic stuff, and then show them how to make quality sounds after that and not just low pass square wave for wub wub. Also very basic music theory and take requests for remaking a certain sound, not something like how do i mek them skrillex burps or whats this lead? When all it is a fucking detuned saws.... Like 90% of the time for a lead its detuned saws m√8.... :u:

Thanks as always guys :6:

This kinda music is usually like a 2 or 4 bar melody/beat/chord progression or whatever. If you've had any formal music training, think of the "home" thing. Start the phrase on a G for instance, and make sure it ends on a G as well to give it "closure". I wouldn't make a whole song. Just a short and sweet 2-4 bar loop.

Although I suppose you don't have to do the "home-venture away from home-travel back to home" thing. Look at the Dubspot intro music for instance:

I would go for something like this. A short and sweet yet catchy melody that people will remember and help establish your friend's brand.

Not going to lie but i love Dubstops intro, but be kind of copying it if i were to use just some off beat piano stabs and some hats. Ill work on something a bit later, im not really good with making good melodic stuff, such as getting it stuck in your head kind of thing. I know very basic stuff like chords, scales, triads, and nothing of like song structure like going from a pattern of A B A B A B A A A C or the home thing you said which i think i know what it means. Just returning to the root or first tonic note.

Wish i could of taken band a long time ago...

Just create a good 4 bar loop and stretch it across a few seconds.
Give it a bit of flair and you're done.
