I really like the end sound of the reese after all processing, but for a reason it's not what I struggle with.
Whevener i'm making a reese, the high end is always screechy, unpleasent even without distortion/processing.

But when I listen at what you posted, the first one (I assume un processed) is spot on, and even tho it could use some more movement, still enjoyable.
It's silly to ask about the easiests steps and not the complex processing, but could you explain how you made it ?
It's actually a preset from a youtube tutorial with minimal tweaks. It's weird tho, I dont think I do anything special with my high end, but it's the question i get the most hhaha. just subtle distortion and eq is all, really. Usually I'll try to avoid distorting the high end too much, so yeah, minimal processing to it will get u furthest imo, then u go crazy on the midrange and bass haha
Cheers for the compliment btw :U:

I think you misread. I'm not talking about the processed high end.
My problem with reeses doesnt come from the processing, but from the initial base sound (which has too much unpleasend saw-typical high end). And when I filter it out, the final result has no grit.

If you still have the link of the tutorial it would be awesome :)

I didn't misread :p There's subtle distortion on the high end on this one, and some eq, before I started this tutorial thingie c:

Been listening to a lot of old DNB lately, tried an attempt to get that low old school reese. Didnt split any frequencies, just a sylenth patch with some slight eq for harsh points and used abletons eq 3 to cut out the mid and lows for part of the sounds.

Sylenth's phaser adds a lot to the sound if you use it right, added that to the last part. Add a slight but noticable difference :6:

Will try and make an "attempt" later this weekend to make a glitch hop reese, like koan sound.

Also soundcloud added quite a bit of other artifacts since i compressed and limited the hell out of it!

I think it is a little bit silly to buy a synth that just does reeses, when any capable synth can make those same sounds.
To each there own, it does seem to work as claimed.

The interface makes me want to die though, it looks like it was designed in synthedit with some of the default knobs/buttons.

Also, the effects chain that dude has over his sound is what makes it, not the synth, heck the first bass in this https://soundcloud.com/gregory-t-johnson/free-basses is just a square wave with 21 effects and 8 lanes of automation over it.

Edit: I know for a fact that synth was some slapped together piece of junk made in synthedit because of the waveform selector knob, those are the default waveforms and selector knob that synthedit supplies.

Do you have an objective here other than just showing up occasionally to try to slight people? You literally bring nothing of value to this thread. If you can't stand the types of sounds people post here, why don't you start a thread called the "real" reese bass thread, and you can fill it with samples of the original reese from kevin saunderson's track like renegade did...
not sure if you're aware that he's referring to a comment on the clip

@cmgoodman1226 - I see you edited your comment but I just wanna say that I stated my opinion on reeses one time a few pages back and I haven't really said anything negative about it since then. I think I was pretty friendly about it too, just having a friendly disagreement with some people in this thread, not acting like "I was right" and "they were wrong" (not trying to at least). I just have a different taste than some people, but I respect everyone's opinion/taste when it comes to music.

Haven't made too many contributions lately aside from my opinion, so here is a new reese like thingy I've been working on. Can't quite get some unique context yet but I've started using foley sounds on top of reese's and I'd like to think I'm getting some interesting results.

Made a Datsik Bass below:

Ask if you want details. It's my first attempt at that kind of bass, just thought it would be nice to share rather than the boring same glitch hop reeses haha. Couldn't decide if this was more of a growl or a reese. Just a generic bass I guess.

Thanks:)
NEW SONG listen please:)
