I did the same with fabfilter pro-q and Ableton 9 EQ8.. eq8 sounded better

Still have to do the fabilter saturn (an amazing plugin) with Izotope Exciter...

I know this is going to be hard to take without offense, but there is no ill-intent behind this: I have serious doubt for your credentials after you've said what I bolded there.

I suggest comparing FabFIlter Pro-L to iZotope's Limiter in Ozone.

As far as the FF vs iZotope EQ, it depends on what you're looking for from an EQ. iZotope's can do some analog modeled nonsense, that's cool, but not what Pro-Q was built to do. The interface stomps all over iZotope's in terms of usability, white space, cleanliness.. every design aspect, really. (previous design major)

But what does "sounds better" mean to you? Pleasing coloration? Pro-Q isn't intended for that. The digital phase is more important to consider when choosing an EQ. Make a drastic dip in the midrange of a kick drum with Ableton's EQ8. Do the same thing with Pro-Q. Even when NOT in linear phase mode, it kicks EQ8's ass. Get the tool Dan used in this video up above there and try it out on those two plugins.

And personally I think FabFilter Saturn needs to handle the cross-points with less phase-shifting than it currently does -- and it would be truly outstanding. Much like iZotope did with the Hybrid crossover mode. That's the only advantage the iZotope Exciter has over Saturn. My opinion.

It's all whatever though -- this thread is about Pro-MB, not Pro-Q or Pro-C. Demo it, then make your verdict on it.

I was simply doing the same thing in both EQs and picking the one that sounds better to me. The interface and the ease of use is great tho.

Looks good. I get myself into trouble a lot by resampling maybe more than I should. A mbc that I could rely on to help me restructure resampled parts would be a god send.

Fabfilter make the highest quality processing, if something else sounds better to you that's possible of course,
but these plugins are used by the biggest names in the business.

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of using multi band compression so I won't jump on this immediately.
More excited about Slate's new VMR thing.
