Tape - The Sticky Kind

Post by nowaysj » Tue Oct 22, 2013 7:09 am

Hey chappies,

what type of labeling tape are we using on our gear? In the past, I've always used the WRONG stuff. Gets either dirty, gets smeary, words wipe off, or leaves nasty gunk that instantly sprouts legs and runs as quickly as possible into fader tracks.

Whats the haps?

Masking tape, usually. Tried electrical tape once as thought it was be easier to write on, turns out it's a fucker to get off.

FUN FACT - I am also using a purple elastic band to keep my watch together.

The stuff everyone uses for it, iow masking tape.
Dunno if there's different kinds but it's basically the one painters use indoors, writes like paper.

I've used masking tape with sharpie, and the writing invariably comes off. My body is caustic by nature. I can't wear any metals except 18 carat gold, otherwise I just corrode them... was hoping there was some other kind of tape out there that people use... I know I've seen dedicated tape...

They've changed masking tape. It used to be like paper...now its kinda plastic-y. Honestly I just use a metallic sharpie directly on wall warts these days lol. I would like to find something good but temporary for my mixer channels. Remembering 10 unmarked channels is not fun for those of us that imbibe herbal chillaxation remedies...

Blue painters tape. It's the least sticky stuff out there.
