i started off with all the basics : love supreme (king!), bitches brew, on the corner, sketches of spain...blah blah...

moved into some bill evans stuff and newly appreciated sun ra's stuff after madlib resuurected him. last year got into some of the ethiopian stuff

i also can get down with some duke ell(caravan, st louis toodleoo, mooche) when i wake up with whiskey in my stomach...

but gotta give it up for my personal fave mr. eric dolphy. that man just smacks it. i'll also always have love for thelonious monk, charles mingus, herbie hancock

Been into jazz for a while now, of course i'm into miles davis, coltrane etc...

but my alltime faves are FREDDIE HUBBARD and WEATHER REPORT

Love a bit of Miles, Coltrane, and yeah bill evans is deep, apparently he played the first ever rhodes keyboard. Some of Alice Coltrane's music is deep aswell.

Herbie Hancock's stuff during the Headhunter years is just heavy.

yeah, too much names... but my personal heroes are roy ayers, herbie mann in his old days, dizzy gillespie, sony rollins, sonny stitt, jimmy smith. swing and the marching band sound also gets me.

edit: forgot about john zorn and his various installments... how could i!

ayler, sharrock, pharoah sanders, sun ra, cecil taylor, dolphy, mingus, coltrane, coleman, don cherry, peter brötzmann, evan parker, archie shepp, the art esemble of chicago, fred frith - just some of my jazz faves off the top of my head.

totally agree with the love for Mister Hancock and his hunters but to experience the love of jazz there is no one above the Mingus...he plays his piano like he's spilling his guts out onto the keyboard!

I love me some Jazz and Blues... Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock... I sample from them all the time.

Sun Ra Arkestra played in central park when I was in NY last summer... FOR FREE. Any chance I get, I'll be listening to jazz or blues over any other music.

I play the sax, trumpet and clarinet... some bass... if you ever hear any on one of my tracks, they are usually me playing.

I was raised on the Blues and came to find Jazz on my own!
Dizzy in his be-bop days is my fav time.
