help a noobie make Dubstep
I've been watching every video on youtube but i dont find any of them useful.
I think I know the basics but i don't know how to structure a song
So any advice or tips to help me to start and finish a track would be greatly appreciated. You're all probably sick of people like me but i will give my left testicle for any knowledge you guys can give me to getting me on the right track.
I will return the favor in anyway i can.

If you don't know how to structure a song then you obviously don't listen to enough music. Just sub to UKF on youtube and listen to all the tracks on their channel. Also, don't limit yourself to dubstep, look into electro house, drumstep, glitch hop etc, to get a good idea of what people are making these days and how you can take influence from them to create your own sound.

Re: help a noobie make Dubstep
listen???? nononono. DL the file, import it in yer DAW and replicate the measures. I think this is the best method to learn.
But in the begining you don't have to focus much on the structure. If production is quality then structure doesn't matter that much and it'll come on the way. I mean like you gotta have intro, drop, break and drop II, but you don't have to struggle to keep measures. Focus on the composition mate. The basic structure is made DJ friendly, so you can mix songs easier since every track follows same pattern.

that sounds like a good idea, thanks for sharing
Re: help a noobie make Dubstep
FWIW a better term (than 'structure') for what you're looking for is 'arrangement.' You'll find more results looking for "song arrangement tips" than any search involving "structure." Trust.

Re: help a noobie make Dubstep
I sincerely hope that was sarcasm. If you can't understand music by listening to it, you really haven't got much hope in making it. Structure and arrangement of dubstep tracks is nothing compared to bands like Dream Theater, Protest the Hero or Periphery, listen to anything close to math for 6 months and you won't ever have trouble arranging simple dubstep tunes again. Dubstep is literally like intro - build up - drop - breakdown - build up - drop - outro in most cases.cent4ur wrote:listen???? nononono. DL the file, import it in yer DAW and replicate the measures.
