how can I adjust the grid in the arrangement window so that I can see only 1/4, 1/8 notes, 1/16, 1/8 triplets, etc... like I just see the gridlines and the zooming tools adjustments as you zoom. Is there a way to set what gridlines you are seeing? I do drums in audio and this would make it much easier.
It's in the transport bar, I'll just quote Joe m21 because I'm lazy:
Transport is at the top center of the Logic window. If you click on the "/16" which I circled in red, you will get a drop down menu to change the the note length you want.

Your transport may look different and might not have the "/16" right now. I have a custom transport displayed. "Custom" can be selected by clicking the "gear" icon on the left of the transport. Various options for what to display in the transport can be accessed by right-clicking in the transport bar and selecting "customize transport and display." The option you are looking for will be in the "LCD" section - choose "custom" and check the box for "signature division."

not sure if you already know it or if its been posted here before but turning 'Alignment Grid' OFF on Logic X is a must for me when sequencing audio drums.

On the transport bar there should be a part that says /16 (or whatever you have it set to), and you click on that, will give a drop down for the different divisions. I have mine set to the Custom setting, so it may take some tinkering to get it similar.
And it's Logic, there are probably a few other ways to do the same thing, this one is just off the top of my head.

yeah idk like ive changed that but the "snap to grid" thing is so unstable, I feel like im struggling just to get a clip to start exactly on the bar, like I have to zoom in and in and try multiple times. idk if I have something set wrong but it seems like the "Smart" setting isnt precise and the "bars or beats" option isnt precise to go into frations of bars... idk probably have something set wrong thats making my clips like all slightly off and not lining up exactly on time

Do you guys use the Logic compressor for sidechaining?
I have been researching and digging for a compressor audio unit vst that has sidechain capability but it seems in AU format there arent much of any options...
any suggestions?

If you're just going for the general ducking effect, logics stock compressor is fine. Really any compressor (with a sidechain function) should work for this, just focus on getting the attack and decay times right.
edit: haha since were talking about compressors here, make that attack/release times

I'm wondering this too.
Probably just a bug but if there's a workaround that would be great, fucking clips never snap to the right place.
