About the interview between Frost and Nixon, wasn't expecting too much as it seemed they'd gone out their way to think of the least imaginative title ever but it was a really good film.
Brilliantly done, I thought... Michael Sheen nails Frost.

Worth watching the real thing if you've never seen it too.

They Live:
So fucking strange. The main guy is basically a moron and everytime he speaks some kind of ghost banjo plays.
Loads of it makes no sense at all. About the only thing that was good was the scene where he puts the glasses on and walks down the street.

That doesn't sound promising, I was planning to watch that or 2001 A Space Odyssey today. I guess 2001 it is!

That's the John Carpenter one yeah? I saw it at the Prince Charles a few months ago - really enjoyed it!

I did write a whole bunch of things that were just ridiculous to me but i thought whats the point. It just got to the end and the credits came up and all I could muster was "well that was odd" and called it a night

Now that I think about it was mostly the fucking annoying banjo/guitar sound that would play when he spoke and it was usually something awful . "well I aint no daddys boy now". wut.

Paprika

I'm not into anime at all, but I enjoyed this film. Especially the sound gives it a really
strange vibe.

World War Z

Finally got around to this. Not as bad as I was imaging from the critique on here, but nothing spectacular. Came across as a standard B-movie with a bigger budget. Overall feel had a very similar vibe to the Crazies remake a few years back, which I was a bit fan of because it was intentionally schlocky. I think World War Z suffered from taking itself a little too seriously, not to mention taking serious fucking liberties with the source material (MASSIVE fan of the book)

Some of the set pieces were good, the bit where they are creeping through the lab was well done, but felt the descent into anarchy section at the start could've done with a little bit more pre-amble...the use of news reports to give glimpses of what was happening was just too lazily done, unlike the remake of Dawn Of The Dead which handled the same situation a lot better IMO.

Worth a watch, glad I did take the time with it, but yeah...nothing particularly spectacular.

Thought this was going to be a fairly standard Jason Statham action thriller, and to an extent it is. Slightly different approach with him being a homeless alcoholic ex army having PTSD because of what happened to him in Afghanistan.

Also has Errol from 15 Stories High as a triad boss

Early Cameron Crowe work set in grunge & coffee era Seattle. One of the most 90s films I've ever seen. Entertaining if only for the cameos of early career Jeremy Piven, Paul Giamatti, Matt Dillon and Eric Stoltz.

The Rock goes undercover in a drug gang to help his estranged son. Exactly what you'd expect it to be. Good turn from Barry Pepper, not seen him in a while.
