Manipulating a wobble bass

Post by Dispatik » Thu Oct 31, 2013 9:03 am

Hi guys I'm new to the forum and writing music. I've been really tryin to learn as much as I can about sound design and techniques. I would like know how to manipulate a wobble for example to go like this. Oh ahh oh ahh oh ahh eee oh ha. I have done a tone of searching and I found a lot about the formant vowels with an eq. But I don't believe that is the way to achieve this. While playing with a basic sound and an eq I have found that, the oh is around 250, the ahh around 500, eee around 4k. But I'm not sure as to how to set it up so it goes through all these to get what I'm looking for if that makes sense. But who knows I could be wrong and it could be a lot of bit crushing and then formant filters. Maybe I am doing things in the wrong order. Any help to get me going in the right direction would be appreciated thanks.

You can try different modulation on filters. Switch a couple on at a time and then draw an automation switching some off and modulating the filter movements.

So like in ableton you can make a rack with maybe 6 eq cuts with some EQ8 presets for vocal ah eh oh yu sort of thing and then assign each of those top eq points to a macro and call it mouth mod or whatever and then assign the bypass or off button to another macro so you can do your sounds and then just automate which is on and off. So you have "ah" filter modulating and then you switch it off and turn on filter "eh" and modulate that.

Well thats what I think you are trying to do?

Throwing a waveform into a filter and modulating it's cutoff is how you'll get some vocal base. This one shows you a few different days to achieve the effect, through LFO as well:
