I assume people mean in moderation.. I've always found it to be easy to go overboard and if you do its fucking chaos.

Can't really over do it too much smoking and most people know when they've over done drinking and they're steaming, but can normally either carry on or sober up a bit then carry on. Both together once you've gone a bit too far, Goodnight Vienna.

Maybe thats cause I'm a drinking so moderation aint really my thing.. but my mates that smoke a lot don't tend to drink much at all. Couple beers. How people drink spirits and smoke I'll never know.

If you want to drink and smoke but plan on drinking heavily then the trick is to smoke first and then start drinking, if you have a smoke when you're already steaming drunk it can knock you and make you feel sick, the other way to do it is to just have a couple of pints before your first joint so you're not totally hammered and then when you smoke you get this nice warm wave of goodness, after that you can continue drinking and smoking at a higher rate for the rest of the night pretty much
