Harsh. Surely they could raise £150k ish by doing a Kickstarter or something?

They must've been doing something wrong though...if you get that much traffic there's no reason to be making a loss on a site. They must've had some expensive server deal.

Archived some of the Q&S responses in Thinking Out Loud thread, but sadly neglected to properly catalogue it...so you've got quotes but no points of reference :u:

Strange one - that's a lot of money to be in so deep for what they were doing.

For example - http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/5/50392 ... to-startup

They had a huge costs for hosting at $35,000 a month - I'd be surprised if DOA were even using 1/10th of that for their forum. So not sure what happened to get in so deep. It will be missed , was a great forum around 2004/2005 then it kind of slipped a little.

It's a real shame, but kinda predictable. Hope Khal finds a decent place to write for and Croms (if he was still workign the Grid at all anyway) is knocking about and well.

I made a load of good friends on DOA over a decade ago, found out about loads of ldn parties, got to be in the 'Mo Fire' video shoot which was hilarious. And yeah the Grid taught me loads.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Surely someone has the database archived somewhere?

IDM Forum's has the right idea, top of the homepage, urging user's to support the forum and donate, with a bar showing how much they have received and what the target is, usually around 3000 USD.

I heard that DOA was going under because they were so deep in debt, because from what I remember just about 6 or 7 months ago, everything took a good 5-10 seconds to load up, at least. I do hope the servers come back up soon. So much rich information from there.
