John - Vortex (170, D&B)

Post by HoogerJ » Sat Oct 05, 2013 11:08 am

REWORKED VERSION IN MY SIG!

Tried to recreate an old skool kind of D&B bass. Not completely happy with the intro tho (synth too wide?)

Feedback appreciated!

Felt the synth arp you've got on here is very loud and swamping the other elements, the drums especially. Maybe look at taking it down in the mix a bit or else EQing the other elements around it so they've got a bit more space.

Yeah, think your're right. Not satisfied at all, especially with the intro. Thx. Gonna rework the track soon.

There are some good sounds in here, but the mixdown does need another look.

Happy to give it another listen if you're going to rework it :)

The sequencing and variation are quite nice... except in the drums - maybe a bit more variation here. Otherwise, it doesn't get boring.

I'd look at distorting a lot of the elements.

And also, cut the tail off of those rides a bit, get a bit more transient goin on with them. This should help them stand out a bit better.

Oh, also, lowpass the bass a bit and then stick a standard sine sub underneath it to give it a bit more weight.

That's where I'd be going with it anyway.

Good tune overall though, good work. :)
