Effects the amount of people going to events and if less people are going out then promoters aren't willing to push the scene as hard.

ah ok i thought people meant it affected the music itself more directly than that

i thought maybe more bro since people couldn't bun inside anymore..? lol

i do recall reading about how djs started playing either more aggro, either housier stuff to keep people from leaving the floor. don't remember where exactly i read that though

djs were finding themselves having to play harder / faster tunes so that people wouldnt pop out for a cigarette

David Kennedy (Ramadanman/Pearson Sound) talked about that in his Red Bull Academy lecture. That it started with the smoking ban in London etc

It's funny how seemingly unrelated factors can influence a sound's development - like one particularly hot summer in Jamaica turning ska into reggae via rocksteady. Too hot to play that many skanks...
