Given that this is gold edition, I'm willing to part with it for $199.00.

:rules:

Or, something reasonable.

And a mac... A MAC?

:L:

Actually went back to try and figure out why I missed the 64 bit requirement, and it is because all their info is geared towards macs. I saw the system requirements, mac bullshit, and skipped to the end, 13 gigs or whatever free space, "We're ALL GOOD!"

You really think there are more mac users than pc users of NI products? -q-

You can youtube any producer and 9/10 times they'll be on a Mac. I think it's because the MacBook Pro is just a better laptop than anything you can get without going custom. And seing how most of these guys travel a lot it just makes sence to have a Mac based setup. That's just a wild guess, so I dunno.

And I'm not saying macs are better than pc. A well build custom pc will beat the shit out of a iMac any day of the week. Otoh, a Mac Pro is a fucking beast. I guess it just comes down to how much money you want to spend and how much knowledge you have of how to build and maintain a computer.

The key to keeping your custom production PC ninja: watch porn on something else.

Seriously. As far as stability and system breakdowns goes...I'm running a Windows 7 64bit Pro production desktop I built myself. Its run perfectly for years. All I do is keep Microsoft Security Essentials updated and running and I don't do anything shady--not really ever been into pirated software and I follow my own advice listed above. I don't really do a lot of internet browsing. Just tutorials, gear reviews, sound cloud and other uploads.

At this point I just can't be arsed to learn Mac OS and I've been on FL Studio for years. I just don't want to fucking change, I know Windows like the back of my hand (been rocking that shit since 3.11).

Also built a pretty future proof PC for like 900 USD. Added a class compliant firewire card, 8 gigs of RAM and a USB dual monitor thingy. So, lets call it 1,200 USD.

Fuck. I guess I coulda bought a Mac ;p

I had been using pc up untill about 3 years ago. I rember back I the day trying to use a Mac and it was some confusing shit. These days it's much more streamlined and very simmilar to pc. There's still a few different things, but the learning curve in not nearly as steep as it used to be.

Fwiw, my last pc was custom build. Every 2 years or so I'd upgrade some parts here and there just to keep with the times. But like you said, it was about $600 initial investment plus another $600 over 4 years ends up being the same price as a Mac that doesn't need upgrade.

I really don't see myself ever going back to pc, but I thinks that's just because I spent 25+ years on them and am ready for change. Who knows.

On a side note, MacBooks are made of metal and damn near industructable. My wife's work laptop (and most other windows based laptops) are flimsy plastic and break like nobody's business. I think she's broken 3 of those things in the past year.

I think that's another thing to factor into why there's so many producers on macs.

Macs are not ~$1,000. Ch'all are tripping. I built a production pc early 2009, still use it daily. Cost me ~$1,000 to build. When I planned out the build, I looked at buying an apple, same specs: $4,000. And then I'd have inferior audio handling on the mac, less software, A LOT less awesome free software... and most importantly (at the time) no flstudio...

But that wasn't my initial point. In terms of their raw customers, you think there are more mac customers than pc customers for NI products? To privilege mac information over pc information?

And Frag, yeah, now that you mention it, I should sell the whole kit and kaboodle. Was thinking of just selling 2.0, but really. I don't want to use maschine at the 1.0 level. So hmmm... yeah, sell the whole thing! What'd a maschine mk1 with maschine 2.0 software go for?

Check the sold auctions on eBay for just MK1 unit. Average. Add 99USD for the upgrade.

I wonder if it as such.

Maybe get more selling separately?

We'll see. I submitted a ticket with NI a couple days ago, no response, which I guess is a response.

Just took the Maschine 2.0 plunge. By this time tomorrow I will be a Massive user. I'm scared. Hold me.
