ok i should have put "successful" producers then. but you're right, there are a few amateur producers that keep the original sounds flowing.Marcus wrote:Plenty of bedroom producers.oner_music wrote:you aren't particularly far off the number of producers that still keep it real these days (in terms of dubstep)Muncey wrote:You guys know I was joking when I said theres 8 producers left right? Re: Jack Sparrow calls it a day.
...your point being? i'm talking about decent producers who have had significant/relevant releases and still keep their sound true to the scene. j:kenzo's latest release on tempa, for example, is on point and top notch. as for the 20,000,000 others.......?the_disconekt wrote:if you broaden your definition of dubstep a bit there's about 20,000,000 people producing right now

I wonder about this, because Blackdown says the same thing. Is it because they don't want to be associated with the term/scene or something? As far as I can tell these guys are closer to what Dubstep is/was at the start than anything else about right now.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.
Re: Jack Sparrow calls it a day.
Yep, I agree. Was funny in the "Does anybody listen to dubstep anymore?" thread, loads of people were saying no, and then naming these dark, bass-y guys making tunes around 135-140 (i.e. the dudes blackdown reps) as people they do listen to.

Calling it dubstep and getting into that mindset might limit their creativity of what they produce. I happily play their tracks when mixing dubstepTaiken wrote:point.pete bubonic wrote:Jurkhands wrote:I wouldn't consider Wen & Beneath dubstep though.

I've always loved Ryan's tunes, it's unfortunate that hes calling quits but understandable what with all the drama they had to go through with Forward Forever.
Cant wait to catch him in Mexico(where i'm from) with Author this December.
AFAIK it will be the first proper dubstep show in my country.

Big up Jack Sparrow. You have always been one of my favorite dubstep producers
It'll be a shame not to hear the follow up to Circadian, I had that album on repeat for a long time. Resepect your decision to follow another path in life as society tells us that we all have to grow up at some point.
Wish you all the best mate
Some of these songs are personal favorites that will still be in my playlists in 40 years time.

Re: Jack Sparrow calls it a day.
No more gigs as Author then? Shame, as the artist(s) are booked here in December and I'm more familiar with Jack Sparrows than Ruckspin's.
Re: Jack Sparrow calls it a day.

One of the first producers of this sound I ever listened to.
Still, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Much respect jack.
Melodic deepness from my mind.

Shoal was a heinous tune, pity i rarely hear it out.
Still think J.Sparrow & Ruckspin are 2 of the most underrated producers about.
