Albino and Z3ta have some good pesets for pads

I have a really old vsynth called Exciton 1.1 and it has some really cool pads and its easy to work with

for pads i always start with samples, like a clean vocal with loadsa reverb loaded into my sampler......worth mucking around with weird starting points, as soon as u wack massive reverb on them u can get some good results...

Yeah I always seem to have more pleasing results with pads when I manipulate some form of audio sample. Although have be suffering difficulties lately with these making my mixes muddy. :u:

Definitely.

The muddy thing can be a problem. Just high pass reverbs on them and that kind of thing though.

Good equing is our friend.

Its not so much the reverb adding mud to the mix but the actual sample itself- im always eqing that fine - I just tend to use samples that cover a wide freq range and become reluctant to cut frequencies out from fear of loosing the detail in the sound. :|
