I think the problem is, is that you want there to be inovation at 140bpm halfstep dubstep, well, thats just not going to happen is it. The inovators are off doing something else and being inovative, not making dubsstep lol

To all the folk saying there's no innovation left at 140, go and listen to vivek's most recent rinse show and then retract your statements

Innovation comes from bottom.

look at the 130 thread people are posting tunes from artists that have barely any facebook/soundcloud followers, its just about the music

Epoch and Sepia are slept on in dubstep (imo)
but in 130 their names get mentioned everywhere as ones to watch ?

when its dubstep its :H: DJs are out of touch, they ain't looking for new artists.

There's a MssingNo thread but there ain't no Geode thread....

This is how I see it;

Dubstep as a genre is made up of parts, or niches for the producers to "exploit" via their own productions. There's x ammount of bedroom producers and y ammount of niches left, to put it quite simply we're running out of innovation potential. (and some people might disagree) so we should just relax and enjoy the good times and the here and now and fuck what happens in the future.

I don't agree with that, you can look at House and Techno for examples both those genres have parts and niches that people have been continuously exploiting for almost 30 years. The most innovative material comes from those new to the scene or with their own distinctive taste in music, for Dubstep you could say Distance's interest in heavy metal meant he was going to approach the Dubstep template differently to someone like 2562 /AMUS who has more of an interest in Techno and House. Right now anyone making Dubstep probably has been listening to it for a few years which means most ideas will probably have been recycled to a certain degree.
