Derocc - "Cabin Fever"(Trancestep/irippedoffsevenlions)

Post by Derocc » Sat Nov 30, 2013 12:57 am

Hey yall! Im made this track over the past couple days. Very seven lions-ish, vocal heavy, melodic with a hint of trancey glitchiness. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated!

That's an awesome intro, melody is really well composed, love it. Kinda new to production but the vocal seem a little light to me, works well when the harmony comes in but I'm not sure it works on it's own.

Thanks man! That was a scratch vocal that I chopped up and did some pitch shifting with Reason Neptune. I just replaced the file with newly mixed vox, some little edits i had missed, a touch of delay, and gave them some more body.

Nice song man, you weren't kidding about ripping off Seven Lions! Not necessarily the most original, but overall very well made. The drums sounded a bit thin and punchy, I think they could have been a bit heavier, but without too much transient content. Good luck in the future, you have a lot of potential.

Excellent intro mate, really like this, in contrast to something being said about the vocals seeming light, to me they were perhaps a touch too loud, when this dropped it felt like the vocals had been too loud compared to the drop.

@Echoi After listening back I agree that the vocals are a bit to loud. I was focusing in on mixing those rather than listening to the track as a whole. I think it might be the low mids, I made a send and compressed 250-2k with some cuts at 500 and a few other places to give the vox some extra umph, but I do have them running through a bus so Ill try a combo of lightening the parallel comp and bring down the overall level of the vox bus.

@Elliot Thanks man! Yes it totally swiped his favorite chord progressions for this lol, I will be going back and bouncing out the drums separately from Reason to mix along side the vox in Protools, I did notice listening back the kick can use some more thump to it and overall volume of Kick/snare can be brought up a tad.

Thanks for all your feedback guys, I really appreciate your help and input!! Ill be getting back to this track once time in my work schedule opens up this week.
